Hermes Agent + Sightkick: SEO and GEO on a schedule

Updated

Hermes Agent, the open-source agent from Nous Research, connects to Sightkick's MCP server with one hermes mcp add command. It signs in at its first Sightkick call in a chat. Hermes can then work on your AI visibility, Search Console data, keywords and pages, on a schedule, and report to Telegram or Slack.

Sightkick makes this page. The setup below was run on 5 November 2026 against sightkick.so's own workspace.

Key takeaways

  • One command. hermes mcp add sightkick --url https://app.sightkick.so/mcp --auth oauth lists Sightkick's 37 tools. Answer Y to enable them.
  • Sign-in comes later. The add doesn't sign in, and hermes mcp login doesn't either. Hermes signs in at its first Sightkick call in a chat: open the link it shows.
  • Tested. On 5 November 2026 the add found 37 tools, and the first call in a chat signed in and returned sightkick.so's workspace.
  • Unattended option. A Hermes nobody signs in for can use an API key header instead.

How do you connect Hermes Agent to Sightkick?

Run one command where Hermes is installed, answer Y to enable the tools, then sign in at your first Sightkick request in a chat. The same steps are in Sightkick's Hermes setup.

hermes mcp add sightkick --url https://app.sightkick.so/mcp --auth oauth

It adds Sightkick and lists its tools (answer Y to enable them). Hermes signs in at the first Sightkick call in a chat: open the link it prints, sign in to Sightkick and pick the workspace for your site. Where no browser can reach it, paste the address the browser lands on after the sign-in. hermes mcp login sightkick doesn't start the sign-in, because Sightkick lists its tools without one.

This is the add on 5 November 2026, against sightkick.so's workspace:

$ hermes mcp add sightkick --url https://app.sightkick.so/mcp --auth oauth

  Starting OAuth flow for 'sightkick'...
✓ OAuth configured (tokens will be acquired on first connection)

  Connecting to 'sightkick'...

  ✓ Connected! Found 37 tool(s) from 'sightkick':

get_workspace Start here, every run. The site, the plan as its amounts and...
get_guidance Sightkick's SEO and GEO playbook by topic: what you may do, ...
get_activity What happened in the workspace, and what came of it.
  Enable all 37 tools? [Y/n/select]: Y
✓ Saved 'sightkick' to ~/.hermes/config.yaml (37/37 tools enabled)
Start a new session to use these tools.

In a new session, the first Sightkick call asked for the sign-in. After it, get_workspace returned sightkick.so's data.

Hermes that runs on its own

A Hermes that runs on its own, with nobody to sign in, uses an API key instead. Make the key in Sightkick under Settings → Agents, then New key. In ~/.hermes/config.yaml, under the server, put headers: {Authorization: "Bearer <key>"} in place of auth: oauth. This follows Sightkick's guide and Hermes's config format. Our own run used the sign-in, not a key.

If Hermes says the MCP SDK isn't available:

pip install "hermes-agent[mcp]"

Check the connection

Ask Hermes to call get_workspace. Hermes registers MCP tools with a prefix, so the tool shows up as mcp_sightkick_get_workspace. Sightkick answers with the workspace, the plan's amounts and what's left this month, each of Sightkick's jobs, what setup still lacks and what's new since the last session. In Sightkick, the "Connect your agent" popup ticks off when the first call arrives.

No Sightkick account yet

Give Hermes this prompt:

Set up Sightkick for example.com, following https://sightkick.so/llms.txt

Hermes sends Sightkick a draft of your site, brand, competitors and buyer questions, at no charge. You get a sign-up link. Hermes waits in the background while you start the 7-day trial, then collects a key and connects. To look first, the free AI visibility report needs no card.

What can Hermes do with Sightkick?

Hermes can brief you on AI visibility every week, turn cited sources into an outreach list, find prompts that never name you and plan pages for review.

Hermes is built to keep running, on a VPS or a serverless host, with a scheduler and a chat gateway. These jobs lean on that. The results are real, from sightkick.so, Sightkick's own site, which tracks 100 prompts in all four AI models: more than a plan includes, through add-ons.

1. A Monday AI visibility brief in Telegram

Every Monday at 9am, call Sightkick's get_visibility with view summary for the last 14 days. Send me on Telegram how many answers named us, split by AI model, against the 14 days before, and the one change worth acting on.

On sightkick.so, Sightkick's own site, the summary to 2026-11-04 covered 100 prompts and 5,960 answers. Unbranded prompts named Sightkick in 23 answers (0.4%). Branded prompts named it in 33 of 40 (82.5%). ChatGPT mentioned it 14 times, up from 2 in the 14 days before. AI Mode 7 (from 6), Gemini 1 and AI Overviews 1 (both from 0).

The job runs inside the Hermes gateway and needs the sightkick server in its toolset: see "A scheduled job can't see Sightkick" below.

2. Turn the sources AI cites into an outreach list

From Sightkick, list the sources AI answers cite most for our tracked prompts. Pick the list articles and reviews among them, add those sites as outreach prospects, and find a contact for the best five. Don't send anything.

On sightkick.so, per Sightkick's get_visibility sources view for the 14 days to 2026-11-04, the most-cited sources were semrush.com (1,489 citations), youtube.com (1,059), reddit.com (964), tryprofound.com (860), peec.ai (816), otterly.ai (677) and zapier.com (535). One zapier.com list, "9 best AI visibility tools", was cited 334 times on its own. Each contact found counts against the plan's 50 a month. Sending a pitch is a separate action, marked destructive.

3. Find the prompts that never name you

Pull our tracked prompts from Sightkick with their answers from the last 30 days. List the ones that never name us, next to the ones that do. For each miss, propose one page that would answer it, and check we don't already have one.

On sightkick.so, "How does Sightkick work with Claude Code?" named Sightkick in 3 of 4 answers and cited it in 3. "What's the best way to do SEO with Claude Code?" named it in 0 of 4. The second is a page to write. The duplicate check (get_pages) answers whether one exists already.

4. Plan pages from keyword research, and leave them for review

Research keywords in Sightkick from the seed "your topic". Save the ones with rising demand and low difficulty, and create one page per topic. Write each page yourself, score it with score_page until it passes, and leave it in Unscheduled for me.

On sightkick.so, a US seed search for "claude seo" came back at 590 searches a month, rising from 20 a year ago to about 1,000 in recent months, difficulty 8. Next to it: "claude seo skills" 480, "claude code for seo" 110 and rising, "claude code seo" 90. Each search uses one of the plan's 100 keyword searches a month. Scoring is capped at 25 a day per workspace. Pages Hermes writes don't draw on Sightkick's article allowance: only articles Sightkick writes itself do.

Is it safe to let Hermes work in Sightkick?

Yes, with the gates you set: the grant covers one site, every call is logged under Hermes's name, and you can limit it to reads.

Hermes gets what a person on the account gets. It can read, change, spend the plan's allowances and publish, at any time, and no call asks for a confirm. Sightkick's job settings (Auto, Manual, Off) only govern what Sightkick does by itself.

  • One site per sign-in. The grant is bound to the workspace picked on the consent screen. Hermes can't read or touch another.
  • Every call is attributed. Each one lands in Sightkick's activity feed against the client that made it.
  • What stays yours. Signing in, entering the first card, ending a trial early (Start my plan now) and deciding who gets access.
  • Destructive actions are marked. Deleting something, taking a page down and sending an email. Every agent edit to a live page is kept and can be undone.
  • Strangers' words are flagged. Text from other sites, AI answers and emails comes back marked untrusted, to be read as data and never followed.

Keep a human gate

Set it on both sides. In Sightkick, put its jobs on Manual, and have Hermes write drafts only: a page without a day waits in Unscheduled until someone gives it one. In Hermes, register only Sightkick's reads. The tools.include list takes raw tool names and globs, and every Sightkick read starts with get_:

mcp_servers:
  sightkick:
    url: "https://app.sightkick.so/mcp"
    auth: oauth
    tools:
      include: ["get_*"]

Run /reload-mcp after the change. Hermes can then read Sightkick's data, and can't change, spend or publish anything.

What is Hermes Agent?

Hermes Agent is an open-source, MIT-licensed agent from Nous Research, the lab behind Hermes, Nomos and Psyche. Nous lists its release as February 25, 2026. Nous calls it "the self-improving AI agent": it creates skills from experience, improves them while it uses them and keeps a model of its user across sessions.

It runs on Linux, macOS, WSL2, native Windows and Android through Termux. Its terminal backends are local, Docker, SSH, Daytona, Modal and Vercel Sandbox. One gateway connects it to Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, email and more. It has a built-in cron, and hermes model picks the model provider.

Nous describes Hermes as neither a coding copilot tied to an IDE nor a chatbot wrapper, and as not tied to your laptop: you talk to it from Telegram while it works on a cloud machine. OpenClaw, the other open-source agent people run on their own hardware, centers on your computer and its chat apps. Hermes has an importer for settings, memories and skills from OpenClaw, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor.

How does Hermes compare with other agents on Sightkick?

Hermes and OpenClaw are open-source agents you run yourself, and both reach chat apps. Hermes is the one built to run on a server on a schedule.

What if Hermes can't reach Sightkick?

Most problems are a missing MCP extra, a sign-in that hasn't happened yet, or a filter hiding the tools. Each fix is below.

"The MCP SDK isn't available"

Install Hermes's MCP extra, then add the server again:

pip install "hermes-agent[mcp]"

Every tool says the connection isn't tied to a Sightkick workspace

A new account's sign-in can finish before its workspace exists. Finish the setup at app.sightkick.so/start: sign in, confirm the site, start the trial or the plan. Then start a new session so the next Sightkick call signs in again, or remove the server (hermes mcp remove sightkick) and add it back.

hermes mcp login sightkick fails

That's expected: it ends with "no OAuth token was obtained", because Sightkick lists its tools without a sign-in. Start a new session and make a Sightkick request. Hermes asks for the sign-in then.

Hermes runs on a box with no browser

Hermes prints the sign-in link with "Or paste the redirect URL here…". Open it on any machine, sign in, and paste the address the browser lands on. If nobody can sign in at all, use an API key from Settings → Agents, kept in SIGHTKICK_API_KEY, out of code and commits. Put headers: {Authorization: "Bearer <key>"} under the server in config.yaml in place of auth: oauth, or use the CLI:

npx -y sightkick status

Sightkick's tools don't show up

Run hermes mcp test sightkick. It reports what the server answered and exits 0 on a connection, 1 on a failure and 3 if sightkick isn't in your config. Check that a tools.include or tools.exclude list isn't filtering the tools out, then run /reload-mcp.

A scheduled job can't see Sightkick

Agent jobs run inside the Hermes gateway, so it has to be running. The job uses the cron platform's toolset: add the sightkick server there, or name it in the job's enabled_toolsets.

FAQ

What does Hermes Agent with Sightkick cost?

Hermes Agent is open source under the MIT license. Sightkick's MCP server is on every plan. Standard is $39 a month ($31 billed yearly): your agent writes the pages and Sightkick does the rest. Pro is $99 a month ($79 billed yearly) and adds 30 articles a month written and published by Sightkick. Both start with a 7-day free trial: a card, nothing charged for 7 days.

Does Hermes need a Sightkick API key?

No. The MCP server uses OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration, and Hermes signs in at its first call. A key from Settings → Agents is only for a Hermes nobody can sign in for.

Will Hermes publish without asking me?

It can. Sightkick asks for no confirm, and a written page on the schedule goes live on its day. To keep a gate, have Hermes leave pages in Unscheduled, or register only Sightkick's get_ tools in Hermes.

Can Hermes do Sightkick work on a schedule?

Yes, with Hermes's cron: ask in chat ("every Monday at 9am…") or run hermes cron create. Sightkick also runs its own jobs with no agent connected.

Do pages Hermes writes use Sightkick's article allowance?

No. A draft Hermes writes runs on your own model subscription, and Sightkick scores, schedules and publishes it. Only articles Sightkick writes itself draw on the allowance.

Can I ask Hermes about Sightkick from Telegram?

Yes, through Hermes's messaging gateway. Hermes sets tools per platform (hermes tools), so check the sightkick server is on for the platform you use.
