Claude Code + Sightkick: connect the SEO and GEO MCP server
Updated
To connect Claude Code to Sightkick, run one command (claude mcp add) or install the free sightkick plugin, then sign in once in your browser. Claude Code can then read your AI visibility, Search Console and keywords, and publish pages from your repo.
Sightkick makes this page. Its numbers come from Sightkick's own site, sightkick.so.
Key takeaways
- One command or one plugin. claude mcp add, or /plugin install sightkick@seo-geo-skills, which adds the skill and the server together.
- No key to paste. The sign-in is OAuth in the browser. An API key is only for CI and cron.
- Sightkick keeps working while Claude Code is closed. Prompts are asked daily, Search Console syncs daily, pages go out on their day.
- The gate is Claude Code's permission rules. Sightkick asks for no confirmation.
How do you connect Claude Code to Sightkick?
Run one line in your terminal, then approve the sign-in from /mcp when the first Sightkick call asks for it. Sightkick lists its tools before you sign in.
claude mcp add --transport http sightkick https://app.sightkick.so/mcpWhen the first tool call asks, type /mcp in Claude Code, pick sightkick and approve the sign-in. It opens in your browser: sign in to Sightkick and pick the workspace for your site. If sightkick isn't listed in /mcp, restart Claude Code. The same line for every client is on Sightkick's MCP page.
To check it works, ask Claude Code to call get_workspace. It returns the workspace, the plan's amounts and what's left, Sightkick's jobs and what setup still lacks.
Can you install it as a Claude Code plugin instead?
Yes. The free seo-geo-skills repo, open source and MIT-licensed, has a sightkick plugin that adds Sightkick's skill and connects the MCP server in one step:
/plugin marketplace add fabio-bergmann/seo-geo-skills
/plugin install sightkick@seo-geo-skillsThe same repo has five SEO and GEO skills that work without Sightkick (seo-geo-skills@seo-geo-skills). On 4 November 2026, the day the repo went public, both plugins passed Claude Code's plugin check and installed from GitHub. Claude Code's plugin docs cover how marketplaces and installs work.
What if you don't have a Sightkick account yet?
Claude Code can set one up for you. Paste this:
Set up Sightkick for my site by following https://sightkick.so/llms.txtClaude Code sends Sightkick a draft with your site, brand, competitors and buyer questions. Nothing is charged or run. You get a sign-up link: sign up and start the 7-day trial (a card, nothing charged for 7 days). Claude Code waits in the background and connects with the key it collects, with no second sign-in. To see your numbers first, the free AI visibility report needs no card.
Does the connection carry to your other repos?
Not by default. claude mcp add uses local scope, so the server loads only in the project where you added it. Anthropic's MCP docs add --scope user for all your projects and --scope project to share it through the repo's .mcp.json. Each Sightkick sign-in reaches one workspace, one site.
What do the first runs look like?
Four short jobs to try once it's connected, each with what came back on sightkick.so. For what Claude Code can and can't do for SEO in general, read SEO with Claude Code.
1. Rewrite pages Google shows and nobody clicks
Get Search Console metrics for the last 28 days from Sightkick.
List pages with impressions and no clicks. For each, pull its queries
with get_search_console, then rewrite the title and opening paragraph
in this repo to answer them. Explain each change in the commit message.sightkick.so, 7 October to 3 November 2026: /blog/best-llm-optimization-service-ai-products had 606 impressions at position 53, /blog/best-ai-search-visibility-tools-2026 had 574 at 23.6 and /blog/seo-competitor-analysis had 462 at 34.5, all without a click. A page Sightkick published is changed through update_page instead, with the bodyHash Claude Code read sent back as baseHash and a reason that stays on the page's record.
2. Track what AI says about your integration
Which of my tracked prompts mention Claude Code? For each, show how often
AI models named us and cited us in the last 30 days.sightkick.so, 30 days to 4 November 2026, 4 answers per prompt: "How does Sightkick work with Claude Code?" named Sightkick 3 times and cited it 3 times. "What's the best way to do SEO with Claude Code?" named it 0 times. The generic question is the gap a page can fill.
3. Check a keyword before writing
Research keywords from the seed "claude code mcp" in the US with Sightkick,
then check with get_pages that no page on our site covers the best one.sightkick.so, 7 November 2026: setup searches like "claude code wordpress mcp" showed about 10 a month each, while broad Claude Code searches ran into the thousands with no SEO intent. That is why this page is a setup guide and the blog post owns the broader question.
4. Report the numbers from CI, with no browser
A CI job or a cron has nobody to open the sign-in. There, Claude Code uses an API key with Sightkick's CLI or HTTP API, which run the same tools. Make the key under Settings → Agents → New key, tick only read for a report, and store it as the SIGHTKICK_API_KEY secret.
npx -y sightkick gsc --days 28 | claude -p "Compare these Search Console numbers with the 28 days before. Five lines."sightkick.so, 28 days to 3 November 2026: 14 clicks, 5,544 impressions and an average position of 29.0, against 5 clicks, 3,805 impressions and position 53.0 in the 28 days before. The CLI prints JSON, and claude -p reads piped input.
Method: Search Console data for sightkick.so through Sightkick's get_search_console. Prompt results are Sightkick's daily runs of each tracked prompt in ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode.
What if your site is built in code?
Claude Code builds the publishing connection itself. On a Next.js, Astro or other code-built site, Sightkick publishes through a signed webhook in the site, and Claude Code adds it from Sightkick's guide in about 5 minutes:
Connect this site to Sightkick for publishing by following https://sightkick.so/connect/webhook.mdIt adds an endpoint that checks Sightkick's signature and saves each page, server-rendered blog pages (AI crawlers don't run JavaScript), the sitemap and an IndexNow key file. Then it connects the webhook and sends a test event. The signing secret goes into the host's environment, never into a commit. WordPress, Shopify and Framer connect without code: see publishing integrations.
Is it safe to let Claude Code publish?
Yes, if you keep publishing behind Claude Code's permission prompt. Sightkick asks for no confirmation, so Claude Code's own rules are the gate.
- One sign-in, one site. The OAuth grant is bound to the workspace picked on the consent screen. Claude Code can't read or touch another site.
- What it can do. Anything you can do in the app. What stays yours: signing in, entering the first card, ending a trial early (Start my plan now) and deciding who gets access.
- Attributed. Every write lands in Sightkick's activity feed against the client that made it.
- Marked and reversible. Actions that delete something, take a page down or send an email are marked destructive. Edits to live pages are kept and can be undone.
- Untrusted text. Words from other people's pages, AI answers and emails come back marked untrusted: data, never instructions.
This .claude/settings.json lets the everyday reads run and keeps a prompt on publishing and sending. The rule format is in Claude Code's permission docs:
{
"permissions": {
"allow": [
"mcp__sightkick__get_workspace",
"mcp__sightkick__get_visibility",
"mcp__sightkick__get_search_console",
"mcp__sightkick__get_keywords",
"mcp__sightkick__get_pages"
],
"ask": ["mcp__sightkick__publish_page", "mcp__sightkick__send_outreach"]
}
}On Sightkick's side, job settings govern only what Sightkick does by itself, so set them to Manual for a human gate. Pages Claude Code creates without a day wait in Unscheduled until someone schedules them.
What is Claude Code?
Claude Code is Anthropic's agentic coding tool: it reads a codebase, edits files, runs commands and works with your development tools. Anthropic released it as a limited research preview on February 24, 2025, and made it generally available on May 22, 2025.
Per Anthropic's overview, Claude Code runs in the terminal, VS Code and JetBrains IDEs, the Claude desktop app and the web, and claude -p runs it in scripts and CI. It comes with Claude's paid plans or an Anthropic Console account (pricing).
Claude Code is not Claude the chat app. On claude.ai, a person adds connectors in the settings (see Claude + Sightkick). Claude Code runs claude mcp add on its own.
How does Claude Code compare with other agents on Sightkick?
Claude Code and Codex can connect themselves and run headless. Claude and ChatGPT need a person to add the connector, in a chat.
| Agent | Where you talk to it | How it connects | Sign-in | Runs headless |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | Terminal, VS Code, JetBrains, Claude desktop app, web | claude mcp add, or the sightkick plugin | OAuth in the browser, from /mcp | Yes: claude -p, with a Sightkick API key |
| Codex | Codex CLI, IDE extension, ChatGPT desktop app, Codex Cloud | codex mcp add | OAuth, codex mcp login | Yes: codex exec, with a Sightkick API key |
| Claude | claude.ai, desktop and mobile apps | Custom connector, added by a person | OAuth in the browser | No, a chat app |
| ChatGPT | ChatGPT on the web | Custom MCP server from Plugins, added by a person | OAuth in the browser | No, a chat app |

Troubleshooting
Why isn't sightkick in /mcp?
Restart Claude Code. In a shell, claude mcp list shows each server's status: Connected, Needs authentication or Failed to connect.
Why does every tool say the connection isn't tied to a workspace?
A new account's sign-in finished before its workspace existed. Finish setting up at app.sightkick.so/start (sign in, confirm the site, start the trial or the plan). Then run the sign-in again from /mcp, or remove the server and add it back.
What if there's no browser for the sign-in?
Use an API key. On a server, in a scheduled job or in a claude -p run, which has no /mcp panel, make a key under Settings → Agents in Sightkick, then New key. Send it as Authorization: Bearer <key>, or set SIGHTKICK_API_KEY and use the CLI (npx -y sightkick) or the HTTP API.
Why is an edit to a live page refused?
The page changed after Claude Code read it. Read it again with get_pages and send the new bodyHash as baseHash.
FAQ
What does it cost?
Sightkick Standard is $39 a month ($31 billed yearly): Claude Code writes the pages and Sightkick does the rest. Pro is $99 a month ($79 billed yearly) and adds 30 articles a month written and published by Sightkick. The MCP server and API are on both. The 7-day free trial takes a card and charges nothing for 7 days. Claude Code needs its own Claude plan or Console account.
Do I need an API key?
Not in a terminal: the MCP sign-in is OAuth. You need one where nobody can open a browser, like CI or a cron job. Keep it in SIGHTKICK_API_KEY, out of code and commits.
Will Claude Code publish without asking?
Not unless you've allowed publish_page. Sightkick never asks for a confirm, so Claude Code's permission prompts are the check. A written page on the schedule goes live on its day.
Is Sightkick a Claude Code skill?
Sightkick is a platform reached through an MCP server, with its playbook inside the server. The free sightkick plugin also installs a skill that tells Claude Code how to use it, and it works next to any other SEO skill you run.
I already added Sightkick on claude.ai. Do I still need claude mcp add?
Maybe not. Per Anthropic's MCP docs, Claude Code lists claude.ai connectors in /mcp when it's signed in with a claude.ai subscription. If you also run claude mcp add, that server takes precedence and /mcp shows the connector as hidden.
